Foundations

I've become increasingly aware lately of the importance of foundations in our lives and how they seem to have lost importance. whether it's the economy, spiritual, emotional or physical life. or our marriages and relationships, we seem to bypass this essential ingredient.
As a builder if I built a house and even scrimped a bit on the foundations I would live in fear, and one day be confronted with the reality of a failed project. cracks would appear and things would start to go wrong. and who's fault would it be? In life when we start to have things go wrong we immediately look to blame someone else, when all the while we've been cutting corners. taking liberties with truth and slowly but surely we've undermined our own structure.
Digging foundations is hard work. whether in a bulldozer or with a shovel. you sweat, ache and get tired from a day in the trenches. but they're so essential, without them, no matter what gets built it is destined for problems.
we live in uncertain times and yet so many now are trying to fix up in a moment what took years to create.
People! it's not going to happen! All we can really do is start to prepare foundations for another day. let the old structures crumble and resolve ourselves to not repeat our folly.
We have to come to grips with some hard work, maybe financial, it might be your marriage or your kids or some other pursuit. but take a deep breath, grab a shovel and start digging. it's the only way.
Have a great Day. Richard
